The American boxer has expressed joy at returning to Africa.

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Thursday morning, commencing his private visit to the African continent with great enthusiasm.

As he touched down in Harare, Mayweather expressed his joy at being back in his motherland, describing it as a beautiful place with beautiful people who welcomed him with open arms.

“It is always great to come back to my motherland. A beautiful place, beautiful people. They have received me with open hands, and I am happy to be here," Mayweather said, radiating excitement.

Mayweather's visit to Zimbabwe will last for two days, after which he will proceed to South Africa for another two-day trip.

While the specific details of his itinerary have not been revealed, his presence is expected to generate significant buzz among boxing enthusiasts and fans.

Having retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an impeccable 50-0 record, Mayweather has successfully maintained his financial success through engaging in high-profile exhibition fights worldwide, commanding a minimum purse of US$500,000 per bout, as reported by FightHype.

The cost of Mayweather's trip to Harare is estimated to exceed US$1 million, considering his arrival via a private Gulfstream G650 jet.

The esteemed boxer was greeted at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by dignitaries from the ruling Zanu PF party, including renowned gold dealer Scott Sakupwanya.

To celebrate Mayweather's presence and engage the local community, a music concert featuring nearly a dozen talented Zimbabwean artists, including the acclaimed Jah Prayzah, has been organized.

The concert promises to be a memorable event, highlighting the vibrant culture and talent of the African nation.

Mayweather's previous exhibition fights have garnered significant attention, particularly his encounters with kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2021 and YouTuber Logan Paul later that year.

Both exhibitions ended without a winner as no knockout was scored, leaving fans curious about Mayweather's next venture inside the ring.
