Mike Sonko has offered Conje a ‘third and last chance’ at stepping up recovery from her health issues by facilitating her readmission to hospital after she was recently spotted in a sorry state.
Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has offered Conjestina Achieng’ a “third and last chance again” to recover from her well-documented health problems.
Conjestina, has been re-admitted at the Mombasa Women’s Rehabilitation Center hospital for treatment for the third time after slipping back to her mental problems at her home in Siaya county.
Earlier this week, Media personality Carol Radull shared the condition of ‘Conje’ when she visited her in Siaya, saying the boxer is not doing well, months after she was given a clean bill of health.
Now, Sonko has now agreed to help facilitate the former boxing great’s recovery after previously pointing a finger of blame at the boxer’s family, whom he accuses of resting on their laurels and allowing her to slip back into her mental problems.
“Even though our chances in conjestina's healing journey were watered down, I'm a person who doesn't give up in life,” Sonko wrote on his X, formerly Twitter page.
“ It is for this reason that we have given Conjestina the third and last chance again on her case.

BOXING Conje on the mend: Conjestina Achieng rolls back the years with friendly bout against Zarika in Mombasa
The famous ‘Hands of Stone’ is on the path to recovery and got a feel of the ring after years of suffering from a mental illness
“I just want to let the public know that she was readmitted at the Mombasa women rehabilitation center where she will start her treatment afresh under the care of a group of specialists, including councilors, consultants and physiatrists.”
When Achieng’ initially left the hospital last June, Sonko said she would be working as the gym instructor and head of security at Mombasa’s Salama Bling Beach resort and would not be allowed to go back to Siaya unless on a family visit and under strict supervision.
Being spotted back in Siaya was thus a surprise to many, and it could well have contributed to regressing on her recovered state.
Conje has been in and out of hospital since she was diagnosed with Schizoaffective, a mental health disorder, in 2011.
