Nigeria's Deontay Wilder has a Gun problem ahead of a massive fight against Anthony Joshua.
One of boxing's biggest names, Deontay Wilder, is in trouble after being detained on a firearms charge.
During a routine traffic stop, the Los Angeles Police Department allegedly found a concealed 9mm gun in his car.
Marijuana was also discovered by the authorities that conducted the search, according to TMZ.
Despite the situation, Wilder allegedly behaved well and was helpful during his detention and a short time later, he was able to post bond.
Gun accusation against Deontay Wilder casts doubt fight against Anthony Joshua
The announcement coincides with Wilder preparing for the eagerly anticipated matchup with British boxing sensation Anthony Joshua, who is of Nigerian descent.
Wilder is regarded as one of the top boxers in the world with a professional record of 42-2-1.
However, in a trilogy of fights that captivated audiences around the world, Tyson Fury was the opponent in both of his defeats and his lone draw.
The fact that Wilder defeated Robert Helenius in his most recent contest further increased the interest in a prospective matchup with Joshua.
Despite his stellar resume and great brilliance, Wilder currently finds himself in a difficult legal predicament.
Exactly when he will appear in court and how the case will turn out are still unknown.
Boxing fans are left to speculate for the time being as to what this means for Wilder's future in the ring and whether or not the highly awaited matchup with Joshua will still happen.
