Nigeria vs Cameroon: Wilder is ready to come all the way to Africa to beat Ngannou.
American former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is ready to take his talents to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
Wilder has offered a two-fight deal to Cameroonian-French professional MMA star Francis Ngannou.
Ultimate Fighting Champions (UFC) President Dana White dismissed Ngannou after being unable to reach a deal following months of negotiations.
Following his departure from the UFC, Ngannou has expressed his desire to take on the best heavyweight boxers.
Wilder wants Ngannou in Africa
Wilder made an appearance on Trill Boxing where he discussed a potential fight with Ngannou.
Ngannou and Wilder are two of the biggest punchers in combat sports and a fight between the two stars will generate massive interest.
On the potential of facing Ngannou now he is a free agent Wilder explained that he is interested and would like the fight to happen in Africa.
He said, "Most definitely, I love Francis. When I met him at the UFC Apex in Vegas he was talking about doing it that time."
Wilder explained that there were already conversations with UFC president White about facing Ngannou.
Wilder also stated that he wants the fight to happen in Africa and wants Ngannou ready to follow his heart.
He added, "I'm still interested in it and I would love to go to Africa for that fight.
“When he was with Dana [White, UFC president], me and Dana sat down and talked about it.
"When he brought the idea to me the whole saying was 'if it makes dollars it makes sense.
"That's all they need to know. I know he's doing his own thing and I'm proud of him for following his heart, doing what he feels."
Wilder on two-fight deal with Ngannou
Discussing details of the offer to Ngannou, Wilder suggested that they could do a fight deal the first in boxing and second in MMA.
Wilder concluded, "I even thought about this idea," he teased. "I said 'alright, let’s make it a two-fight deal. Everybody always comes to boxing, let's do this; you come to my s***, I’ll come to yours.
“I'm a true warrior, that even makes it more exciting and I’m serious about that too. That’s something I thought about even since the first spark of the idea.
Wilder is expected to face off against Andy Ruiz on his return to the ring later this year for a mandatory position for the WBC title.
