According to Franklin, Joshua decided to duck Wilder and fight him.

British boxer of Nigerian descent Anthony Joshua is facing intense pressure from his next opponent American professional boxer Jermaine Franklin.

Franklin has questioned the decision of the former two-time unified heavyweight champion to fight him.

According to Franklin, the fight against Joshua is only possible because the Watford man decided not to fight his compatriot Deontay Wilder.

Franklin made this known in the latest episode of the DAZN Boxing Show where he gave his thoughts on the upcoming fight with Joshua.

British professional boxer of Nigerian descent Anthony Joshua is set to return to the ring against American Jermaine Franklin.

Franklin on Joshua's record

According to Franklin, Joshua chose to fight him instead of a tougher challenge against former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

He said, "I ain’t going to say they ducked Wilder, but it was kind of strange when that Wilder situation was going on and then he hasn’t fought Fury.

"Boxing is a lot more business savvy than a lot of people think, there’s more to it than just ‘We’re going to fight’.

Franklin then gave his thoughts on Joshua's resume since he became a professional boxer.

According to Franklin, Joshua's record is not that impressive as he lost twice to reigning WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Franklin also stated that the most important victory of Joshua's career against Vladimir Klitschko was not that impressive because the Ukranina was old at the time.

He said, "AJ does have a tough resume, but there are a few questionable fights on there earlier on.

Whyte is of the opinion that he deserves a rematch with Joshua, not Franklin.

"The Klitschko fight, you beat up an older Klitschko, against a younger Klitschko I don’t think that fight would have went the way that it did.

"The Usyk fight was questionable even though he lost it, but it was just the way he was fighting, I’ve seen better performances from him."

Franklin has a decent record as a boxer but suffered his only defeat to Dillian Whyte last November.

He now takes on Joshua at the O2 Arena in London scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2023.
