Anthony Joshua: Nigerian-born boxer threatens to use chair against Daniel Dubois
Nigerian-born boxer Anthony Joshua threatens to use a chair against Daniel Dubois ahead of their fight at Wembley.
On December 21, Fury will face the British fighter again in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the former looking to reclaim the WBC title that he lost by split decision.
Oleksandr Usyk stated that he "would not deny" the British fighter one more battle, leaving the door open for a possible trilogy matchup with Anthony Joshua.
Unanimous heavyweight champion Usyk is coming off a split decision victory over Tyson Fury in May in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He defeated Fury in that massive battle to win the WBC world title and his undefeated record, delivering the 35-year-old his first defeat in his professional career.
In recent years, the Ukrainian has developed a habit of conquering British boxers; he defeated Anthony Joshua twice to win and subsequently defended the world heavyweight titles held by the WBA, IBF, and WBO.
In September 2021, Usyk and Joshua squared off for the first time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Usyk surprised the crowd by defeating the home favorite with a unanimous decision.
In August 2022, Joshua fought again in Jeddah, and although he made significant progress, he was ultimately defeated by a split decision.
After fighting Joshua again more than a year later, "The Cat" faced Daniel Dubois in Wroclaw, Poland, and stopped "Dynamite" in the ninth round.
On December 21 of this year, Usyk and Fury will square off again in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Usyk's victory three months ago increased his perfect record to 22-0.
Usyk on Joshua 3
He understands that, should the Watford-born fighter defeat Dubois at Wembley Stadium, there would be demands for a trilogy with Joshua.
Speaking to Mail Sport He said, “I don’t particularly want any rematches, but when we beat Tyson Fury for the second time and when Anthony Joshua beats Daniel Dubois, of course, they will want to do a third fight.
"I have no right to deny Anthony a third fight because he gave me two incredible fights.
"Anthony helped me become even more famous in the world, and if it happens, then I am ready for a third fight."
Even though the IBF required Usyk to face a mandatory challenger—Filip Hrgovic—he recently renounced the belt because of his rematch clause with Fury.
Now that "AJ" has a chance to defeat Dubois for the IBF strap, a trilogy match between Usyk and Joshua may very well be contested for undisputed supremacy.
