Uganda's pro-boxers Shadir Musa Bwogi and Catherine Nanziri are confident of winning their maiden Africa Boxing Belts ahead of the showdown dubbed "Battle for Africa" slated August 19 at the MTN Arena, Lugogo, Kampala.
National super middleweight champion Bwogi will take on Democratic Republic of Congo boxer Samuel Muloko for the Africa Boxing Union East and Central Africa Super middleweight belt.
While, female compatriot Catherine Nanziri will battle for the ABU African Women's Bantamweight title against Tanzanian number one Egine Kayange.
Muloko replaces Tanzania's Joseph Muigwisa, who had been advertised to face Bwogi, but that has not dropped the latter from expecting Saturday to be a crowning moment.
The bout will be Bwogi's third this year, and he has registered two knockouts against local opponents.
"Tomorrow is a birthday party, and we are going to cut the cake and enjoy the evening," he said.
"My desire to win remains the same. The only difference with tomorrow's bout is that it's an African title fight."
"We have been working in silence, and we're only waiting for the showdown. I can only assure my winners of victory in the ring."
The flamboyant boxer defeated Uganda Police boxer Ivan Magumba by knock out in January. He followed the same with James Mutumwa from Masaka Boxing Club in June.
Bwogi added: “This belt gives considerable career mileage. The winner is rated against the top 14 worldwide that qualify you for WBC, WBO, IBF and other top-paid fights.”
There is a good chance for me to get bigger opportunity," he explained.
On the other hand, Nanziri faces a battle against a vastly experienced Tanzania star. While she will be fighting only her fifth professional bout, Kayange has had 12 fights to her name.
However, Nanziri has had an excellent record against Tanzania opponents recording victories over the duo of Husna Zamba and Sandra Mohamed in her previous bouts.
She expects to triumph over her opponent, noting that she is not intimidated by her record.
"The belt will remain here in Uganda, and This is a battle that will separate beauty from the beast,” about her opponent's battle-hardened looks.
