Shadir Musa Bwogi, the reigning national super middleweight champion, could face two-time national champion Hossam Ait Laafita in a title fight scheduled for August.
The 28-year-old Moroccan star is highly-billed to cut the event that will include Olympic bronze medallist Catherine Nanziri facing Tanzania's Tanzania's Egine Kayange at the MTN Arena, Lugogo.
"It is still pending but likely to happen," Bwogi told Pulse Sports Uganda.
The Moroccan went pro in 2017 after garnering 31 victories in the amateur ranks.
As a professional, he has three wins, including a knockout, and only one loss by points.
His last fight came in 2019 against Serbian opponent Milan Zivkovic in Casablanca, whom he defeated by referee stoppage in the first round.
"They are many boxers we have reached out to; in Tanzania, Arab countries", he said before adding.
"But some, after sending them the contract, pull out of the fight giving excuses like having sustained injuries while training. Some claim they are prioritizing other fights".
The fight comes with the African Boxing Union middleweight championship belt at stake.
It will be Bwogi's first shot at an African title after securing his first national championship belt against Ivan Magumba in January this year.
