Nigeria was declared the winner for topping their group with an unbeaten record throughout the tournament.

Nigeria has qualified as Africa's sole representative for the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women's World Cup in Malaysia.

The team clinched the spot after the final match of the ICC U19 Women's World Cup Africa Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda, was washed out.

Due to Nigeria's unbeaten record throughout the tournament, they were declared the winners based on their group-topping position.

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) president, Uyi Akpata, expressed his delight at the team's achievement and praised their hard work and dedication.

"First, I must thank the players, for their boldness and dedication to this project," Akpata said.

"The board members too have been very supportive, and I will not forget the Coaches and the technical team behind them."

Akpata emphasised the need for increased resources and a robust plan to ensure a successful campaign at the World Cup.

"The World Cup is a bigger task; we need more resources and a robust plan to run a successful campaign, All hands must be on deck, and it starts now," he added.

Nigeria's journey to qualification included victories over Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Malawi in the group stage. They also defeated Rwanda in the semifinals to set up the final match against Zimbabwe, which was ultimately abandoned due to rain.

The 2025 U19 ICC Women's World Cup will take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2nd.
