Denis Musali, the Cricket Association communications manager, says the decision to take the tournament to Soroti is entirely based on spreading the game to other parts of the country.
Soroti City will host the girl's schools' cricket week tournament for the first time in Ugandan Cricket history. The event has always been held in Kampala.
The tournament, which will be played in the T20 format, will see thirteen schools from six different regions battle it out for the number one position using four separate grounds, with Teso College School, which has two playing surfaces being the venues.

Head coach Lawrence Ssematimba has opened up about how belief and teamwork enabled his team to claim the top prize.
"As an association, we feel that the game should not be centred around one region,” Musali noted.
“You want to see it played across the country. That's why we decided to use Soroti; it will be an exciting experience," Musali added.
Olila High School, two-time winners, are the defending champions and will have the opportunity to defend their title on home soil.
The tournament gets underway from the 7th to the 13th of May, with games free of charge for all the fans.
Soroti Cricket Academy has been credited for churning out a lot of female cricket youngsters, with some now on the Women's national cricket team, the Victoria Pearls.
