Ogun State Cricket Association commence preparations for National Sports Festival

The newly renovated cricket pavilion marks a milestone for Ogun State cricket as the association prepares ahead for the National Sports Festival next year.

The Ogun State Cricket Association (OGSCA) has commenced preparation for the 2024 National Sports Festival with renewed vigour.

The association unveiled its revamped cricket pavilion and announced the selection of both male and female teams to represent the state.

The unveiling ceremony, held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, is a milestone for Ogun State cricket as the association showcased the newly renovated cricket pavilion, which boasts improved facilities to cater to the needs of players and spectators.

The OGSCA has selected a talented pool of players for both the male and female teams. The shortlisted players will undergo rigorous training and preparation to ensure they are in peak condition for the National Sports Festival.

Chairman's Optimism

Oludare Kuforiji, Chairman of the OGSCA, expressed optimism about the team's chances at the festival. He highlighted the association's significant investment in the renovation of the cricket pavilion, amounting to approximately N30 million.

"Our association invested around N30 million in these renovations, all raised independently. We built the access road, replaced the roofing, and secured the pavilion with private security to prevent future vandalism," Kuforiji stated.

The National Sports Festival is scheduled to take place in Ogun State in January 2025.
