In the match played at Nairobi Gymkhana, Kenya romped to a six-wicket win over Botswana in ICC Continent Cup T20 Africa tournament.

Veteran Kenyan cricketer Collins Obuya showcased an exceptional act of sportsmanship and camaraderie during their ICC Cup match against Botswana at Nairobi Gymkhana on Monday afternoon.

After being named the Man of the Match by umpires and officials, Obuya decided to selflessly donate the award to his teammate and captain, Rakep Patel. 

 Obuya's remarkable performance with the bat, scoring 45 runs off just 21 deliveries, earned him the prestigious accolade. 

However, recognizing Patel's contributions in leading the team to a resounding six-wicket victory over Botswana, Obuya made a heartwarming gesture that showcased the strong bond within the Cricket Kenya squad.

The thrilling encounter between Kenya and Botswana left spectators on the edge of their seats as both teams battled it out on the pitch. 

Obuya's explosive innings, consisting of two sixes and seven boundaries, played a pivotal role in steering Kenya towards triumph. 

In a tweet posted by Cricket Kenya, the organization announced Kenya's commanding win that booked them a place in the final set for Wednesday.

“The hosts cruise to the finals with a 6-wicket win over Botswana. Collins Obuya spreads some brotherly love and awards his Man of the Trophy to skipper Rakep Patel for seeing his troops home unbeaten on 30 runs,” reads the post.

When asked about his decision to pass on the honour to his captain, Obuya expressed his admiration for Patel's exceptional performance.

"I want to donate my Man of the Match to my captain Rakep Patel. He has played well, he has picked some wickets and he has scored runs," Obuya humbly remarked. 

Obuya, a household name in Kenyan cricket, has had an illustrious career spanning over two decades.

Born on July 27, 1981, in Nairobi, Kenya, Obuya made his international debut in 1999, representing his country with utmost dedication and passion. 

Known for his elegant stroke play and astute cricketing acumen, he became an integral part of the Kenyan cricketing setup.

Obuya's most notable contribution came during the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup, where Kenya made a historic run to the semifinals. 

His exceptional spin bowling skills, combined with his ability to contribute crucial runs, earned him widespread recognition.

He finished the tournament as Kenya's leading wicket-taker and played a pivotal role in their memorable victories against top cricketing nations.
