The Swamis have a tough date against Kanbis who recorded a 232-run victory over Cutchi Leva last weekend

Nairobi Jaffrey Sports Club will host one of the biggest fixtures of the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) 50-Overs Super Division League as third-placed Swamibapa A welcome leaders Kanbis A on Sunday.

The two giants will parade some of the country’s finest in their top orders, leaving nothing to chance in a fixture that will definitely set fans’ tongues wagging and hearts pounding.

Kanbis’ will peg their hopes on their opening batsman and right-arm medium bowler Dhiren Gondaria who currently tops the NPCA leaderboard with 352 runs and three centuries to boot.

In Kanbis' 232-run victory over Cutchi Leva last weekend, the Eastleigh troops amassed 414 runs in their allotted 50 over, with valuable contributions from Narendra Patel (53), Jignesh Kerai (55), Rakep Patel (94) and a fine century from skipper Dhiren, who remarked that their batting skills are peerless.

Skipper Dhiren has been outstanding on the bat but wants more performance from his middle order as the longer-version season wears on.

On form Kanbis are four points ahead of Swamibapa in the NPCA 50-overs table, so a victory for the latter would see them take a huge step towards their spirited title aspirations.

While the Kanbis A and Swamibapa A will be tussling for crucial points in the Super Division, their B teams will be at Eastleigh ground to renew second-tier rivalry.

The Swamis will hinge their hopes on their Captain Rushab Patel who incidentally posted the match's highest score (61) in their 8-wicket victory over Gymkhana.

“We will be facing stronger opponents from this week, and I think those are the games we have been waiting for, looking forward to this one with the Swamis. I think no one takes Kanbis lightly and if anyone does, I would honestly urge them not to, as we will be going harder game by game,” said Gondaria.

In other matches, Obuya Academy CC ‘A’ will visit Nairobi Gymkhana A. Legend Collins Obuya, who currently sit third on the NPCA leaderboard with 192 runs, should once again be the toast of the Obuyas who vanquished Sikh Union last weekend.

SCLPS YL ‘A’ have a date with Ruaraka A at their Cutchi Leva and are looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat against Kanbis ‘A’ last weekend while Sikh Union ‘A’ lock horns with Stray Lions ‘A’ at home after last week’s defeat against Obuya ‘A’.

Division One fixtures should also treat fans to some exhilarating displays of cricket artistry with leaders Kongonis A playing away to Ruaraka B.

Whatever is up the sleeves of the teams in both divisions will be known when captains toss at the start of the weekend fixtures.
