In an eventful night of action and games, the final showdown of the 2023 Gamr X Africa championship is set, with $15,000 up for grabs.
The 2023 Nigeria qualifiers of the second edition of the Gamr X Africa which took place at The Atrium, Silverbird Galleria, VI, Lagos, saw an impressive turn-out of participants from all across Lagos.
Saturday’s event was the final build-up to the highly-anticipated grand finale of arguably the biggest gaming event in the country.
Pulse Sports Nigeria also learned that this year’s edition also features a mouth-watering prize pool of $15,000 (over N11 million).
The event which was kicked off at 11 am saw nearly 70 participants first confirm their registration ahead of their groupings in the FIFA 23 category.
The qualifiers involved three rigorous rounds of non-stop gaming as participants battled for supremacy and a shot at this year’s grand finale.
Ahead of the final round of qualifying action, 24 players emerged from the group stage as a crucial 1v1 battle was set to be the final decider of the 12 players heading to this year’s tournament finals.
Highly-rated seeds such as pro-gamers like Farouk, Arogs and Imagine of Sidizens Esports Gaming made it to the finals with all three breezing past every opponent they faced.
The final round of the thrilling qualifiers saw the 24 participants face off in two matches (Home and Away) across the 12 groups, with only room for one winner on the night.
In the end, 12 participants were confirmed as finalists ahead of the 2023 Gamr X Africa tournament.
Saturday’s qualifiers also featured lots of great music, food and drinks, with fans of Esports, as well as a number of gaming and sports influencers gracing the event.
The final of the 2023 Gamr X Africa tournament is slated to take place from the 16th-17th of June 2023 at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Meanwhile, Pulse Sports reported that The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has reached an agreement with Esports organisation Gamr Africa to support the Nigerian football governing body in a technical capacity.
The deal with Gamr will see the esports and gaming technology company act as a 'Technical Partner' for the participation of the federation in the FIFA approved FIFAe Nations Cup Competition.
The Federation also added that the partnership between the three stakeholders will do well to bring more opportunities to FIFA esports players in Nigeria and foster collaboration amongst stakeholders in the ecosystem as a whole.
