Nintendo Switch has officially sold over 122 million units since its worldwide release in 2017.
Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox are two of the most popular gaming consoles in the world.
However, Nintendo is another console that also boasts perhaps the broadest range of users worldwide.
They might not be considered as a major rival in the gaming industry by some others, but they certainly know how to hold their own.
In fact, Nintendo’s switch console has now dethroned Sony’s PlayStation 4 as the third-best selling gaming console of all time.

Following it’s latest earnings report, Nintendo announced that it already sold 8.23 million consoles in the last quarter taking the tally of its lifetime sales to 122.55 million units.

As transcribed by VGC, Nintendo’s latest earning report shows the Nintendo Switch has sold over 122 million units, making it the third best-selling gaming console of all time.
It had surpassed its fellow Nintendo console, the Wii, back in late 2021, when it reached 103 million units sold, and that had made it the fifth best-selling console ever.
However, with the approximate 20 million it's sold throughout this year, the Switch has now outsold the PlayStation 4 which has so far sold over 117.2 million units and and the Game Boy which has 118.69 million units as well.

The only two consoles that remain above the Switch now are Nintendo's own DS console at 154.02 million, and Sony’s PlayStation 2 at a whopping 155 million units sold.
This makes the Switch the second best-selling console of all time if we exclude pure handheld systems.

Whether the Switch can surpass these two other consoles remains to be seen, especially since the Switch is most likely in the latter half of its life cycle, with its sales already declining year-over-year and expected to continue declining.
But unless something big happens like perhaps, the release of the long-rumoured Switch Pro variant, the Switch is expected to remain in third position in all time gaming console sales.
