Sony's biggest gaming event of the year finally has a date!
Sony has officially announced its highly awaited digital event, the PlayStation Showcase, which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24 at 9:00 PM WAT (1 PM Pacific Time).
The Showcase is expected to run for more than an hour and feature many new games for the PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2.
What to expect at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase
PlayStation has not hosted a significant showcase since 2021.
And this has created a significant buzz around Sony’s plans for their next big gaming event which will finally happen later this May.
According to rumours from sources, the upcoming PlayStation Showcase will unveil the second phase of PlayStation 5.
The event will also feature numerous reveals and provide gameplay details for new and existing projects.
Fans can also anticipate a slew of exciting announcements concerning a host of highly anticipated games including the new Mortal Kombat project, as well as the rumoured Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake project.
There is also expected to be a reveal gameplay details on previously announced projects such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 16, both of which are scheduled for release this year.
The showcase will also unveil other third-party games.
Aside from game reveals, Sony plans to announce new hardware this year as well as there have been reports of a new PlayStation 5 model with a detachable disc drive rumoured to be slated for release this year.
Across the next few months, there will reportedly be multiple new showcases from different gaming giants, including Microsoft and Ubisoft with loads of new gameplay announcements.
