Nigeria star Desire Oparanozie has broken a nine-year title jinx to win a league after winning the Chinese Women’s Super League with Wuhan Jianghan University.
Oparanozie won the German Women’s Super League in the 2013-2014 league season with Wolfsburg.

The 29-year-old Nigerian international has won Chinese Women’s Super League with Wuhan Jianghan University
The league ended after 18 match days, with Wuhan Jianghan University defeating Jiangsu Wuxi 1-0 on the final Matchday.
Reacting to the win, Oparanozie took to her official Twitter handle, tweeting: “Behold your Chinese Women’s Super League Champion"
Oparanozie’s football journey began in Nigeria with Bayelsa Queens in the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL). She has represented Nigeria in three different FIFA Women's World Cups with four appearances at the African Women’s Nations Cup.
She was not with the Super Falcons team at the 2022 African Women's Nations Cup in Morocco due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions in China.
Wuhan Jianghan University win Chinese League for three consecutive years
Wuhan Jianghan University has won the Chinese League title, completing a treble of league titles for a club that did not win the league for the first 18 years of its existence.
The Wuhan-based team confirmed the win on matchday 16 after beating Guangdong Meizhou Hakka 5-0 with two games to end the season.
Wuhan Jianghan won the league with 45 points from 18 matches, recording 15 wins and three losses.
