Arsenal have moved swiftly to complete the signing of talented Belgian forward Leandro Trossard from Brighton for a fee of £27million
Arsenal have announced the signing of 28-year-old Belgian forward Leandro Trossard from Brighton. Mikel Arteta moved swiftly to secure the services of the winger after missing out to Chelsea in the pursuit of the Ukrainian forward Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Trossard joins Arsenal
The Gunners are paying an initial £20m up front with a further £7m coming in add-ons. A statement from Arsenal said they have submitted all registration documents and "hope" Trossard will be available to face Manchester United on Sunday.
Arsenal have recruited Trossard to strengthen their Premier League title challenge. Mikel Arteta's team are five points clear at the top of the table and have a game in hand on nearest challengers Manchester City.
Arteta on Trossard signing
“It is good work from everyone at the club to complete the signing of Leandro," coach Arteta said. "He is a versatile player with high technical ability, intelligence, and a great deal of experience in the Premier League and at international level.
Leandro strengthens our squad as we head into the second part of the season and we’re all looking forward to working with him.”
Trossard, who has signed a long-term contract according to Arsenal, has scored seven times in 16 Premier League matches for Brighton this season. But a fallout with Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi persuaded the 28-year-old that his future lay elsewhere.
