Chelsea officially announce the signing of Noni Madueke from PSV.
Chelsea have announced the signing of Noni Madueke from PSV.
The English-Nigerian winger previously played for Tottenham's youth team before moving on to PSV for further football education.
The 20-year-old England U-21 international is one of the most exciting forward talents and will now ply his trade at Stamford Bridge henceforth.
Noni Madueke to Chelsea
Chelsea announced the signing of winger Noni Madueke this evening via their channels.
The Super Eagles' eligible forward would sign a seven-and-a-half-year contract, with an option to further extend it for one more year.
Madueke, excited about his new move, had this to say:
"I’m really pleased to sign with one of the best clubs in the world, Chelsea," Madueke said, per the club's website.
"To return to England and play in the Premier League is a dream for me and my family, and I can’t wait to get started.
"I am excited for what the future holds, the owner's vision for the future, and to be at a club like this and winning at the highest level."
Chelsea's new major shareholder, Todd Boehly, who has been hands-on in the club's transfer dealings since he acquired the London club, along with his controlling co-owner Behdad Egbali, had their say on the transfer:
"We're delighted to bring Noni to Chelsea," they said.
He’s an exciting talent who has proven his quality over the past few years with PSV, playing in a strong European league, and we are thrilled he has chosen to join Chelsea for this next stage of his career.
We are sure he will form an important part of our team.’
New young talent for Chelsea
Madueke's signing is in line with Chelsea's new transfer style under new owner Todd Boehly.
Chelsea, since the inception of its new ownership, have conducted business in a unique way, targeting young players and tying them down to long contracts.
Mykhailo Mudryk is on an eight and a half years contract; Benoit Badiashile and Davide Datro Fofana are on a seven-and-a-half-year contract; and now Noni Madueke is committing his next seven and a half years to Chelsea.
