Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman put up a man-of-the-match performance in a 3-3 goal-fest against Juventus.
Ademola Lookman was on fire as he was involved in all three Atalanta goals in the 3-3 thriller against Juventus.
The Allianz stadium faced new realities as their side started their climb back up the table against high-flying Atalanta. In a game where both teams showcased their offensive prowess while revealing their defensive frailties, Nigeria's Ademola Lookman grabbed the headlines.
Ademola Lookman put his side ahead in the fifth minute of the game on a Jeremy Boga assist. Atalanta held the lead until the 23rd minute when Nicolo Fagioli was fouled in the box. VAR awarded a penalty, and Angel Di Maria made no mistake in dispatching it.
Fagioli was also involved in Juventus' second goal, this time setting up Arkadiusz Milik in the 34th minute to put Juventus 2-1 ahead.
Atalanta equalised in the 46th minute; this time the Nigerian scorer of the first set up Dane Joachim Maehle. Atalanta would go ahead again in the 53rd minute, the combination for the first goal coming together for the third as Boga assisted Lookman again.
Juventus came back into the game again as Di Maria found Danilo in the 65th minute to tie the game 3-3.
The result takes Atalanta to 5th, temporarily above Lazio, who have yet to play their 19th game of the season. Juventus restart their climb up the table following their 15-point deduction, moving from 10th to 9th.
Goal-fest
The poor defensive display on the day reared its head with the first goal. Juventus' defence was nowhere to be found as Jeremy Boga found Ademola Lookman, who beat Wojciech Szczesny at his near post.
Juventus upped their intensity after going behind, and the pressure on Atalanta's back line led to Emerson fouling Fagioli in the box. VAR awarded a penalty, and Di Maria made no mistake on the spot. Buoyed by the goal, Juventus upped the ante and went ahead in the game after Milik got on the end of a Fagioli cross to hit a sweet volley past the keeper.
Juventus led at the break, but Atalanta started the second-half the way they ended the first. La Dea struck early after the resumption of proceedings as Lookman picked out Joachim Maehle, who coolly shot the ball into the bottom corner to bring his side level.
Lookman was left unattended in the Juventus box as he rose highest to connect to a cross from Boga. His powerful header put his side ahead for the second time in the game.
Juventus, determined not to lose, turned on the pressure and equalised again. This time, a well-worked free-kick routine was finished by Danilo.
Both sides had chances to win the game, but neither scored more than three apiece.
