Southampton have reportedly completed the signing of Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu
Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu is reportedly set to complete a move to Southampton from Genk for an €18 million fee including €2 million in add-ons.
The big centre-forward is set to join Southampton on a three-and-half-year contract and will reportedly undergo a medical.
The transfer brings an end to a long transfer saga as the prolific Nigerian has been constantly linked with transfers away from KRC Genk that never materialise.
Paul Onuachu set to join Southampton
Belgian football journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Onuachu to Southampton is a done deal subject to a medical in a tweet.
Southampton reportedly had a bid rejected by Genk for Onuachu earlier in the transfer window but have now come back with an improved offer.
Onuachu comes into the Southampton squad with a view to helping the Saints avoid relegation as they currently sit bottom of the league, two points from safety.
The Nigerian international has scored 16 goals in 19 games this season for Genk which is one less than Southampton's total of 17 in the Premier League this season.
Onuachu leaves Genk as a club legend having scored 85 goals in 134 total games in Belgium including winning the golden boot in the 2020/21 season with 33 league goals.
