The Nigeria National League (NNL) will start on March 3rd
This was confirmed during the 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NNL on Friday at the Blue Springs Hotel in Abuja.
The AGA was declared open by the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, ably represented by the General Secretary, Sanusi Mohammed.
The Assembly agreed on an abridged league format of eight groups, that will see the Northern and Southern conferences broken into four groups: A1, A2, A3, A4, and B1, B2, B3, B4, which shall be grouped based on proximity. This was agreed upon by the AGM in order to ensure the league ends May 20, 2023, as mandated by the NFF.
The Assembly agreed that all clubs must allow streaming of matches, home and away without hindrance to enhance awareness and visibility of the league.
Bendel Insurance win 2022 NNL
Bendel Insurance defeated Doma United 2-1 at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, during the Super Four.
The four teams that played in the Super Four had secured promotion to Nigeria's first-tier league, the Nigeria Professional Football League, for topping their leagues.
The Benin Arsenal booked a slot in the NNL Super 4 after winning NNL Group B1 with 49 points, while Bayelsa United won Group B2 with 44 points. In the Northern Conference, El Kanemi Warriors emerged as the winner of Group A1 with 37 points, while Doma United won Group A2 with 39 points.
