AS Roma defeated Juventus 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to further strengthen their chances of Champions League football next season.
A brilliant goal from Gianluca Mancini proved decisive as Roma battled to a 1-0 win over Juventus to move into the top four in Serie A.
How it happened
It was a cagey first half with both teams approaching the game in a cautious manner. Juventus showed a bit more intent going forward and almost went ahead when Adrien Rabiot’s header was diverted onto the post at point-blank range by Rui Patricio.
Roma’s only shot on target of the opening 45 minutes came from former Juventus star, Paulo Dybala but his curling effort from range was comfortably saved.
Roma's Gianluca Mancini produced a moment of brilliance to open the scoring in a game of close margins.
Juve keeper Wojciech Szczesny was left with no chance of saving Mancini's long-range effort, his first league goal since the 2020/21 season.
Juve responded as Juan Cuadrado’s free-kick hit the post, and a fine Angel Di Maria effort required a strong save from Rui Patricio.
Despite the visitors applying relentless pressure, Roma held on for a crucial victory.
