The German champions reigned supreme against the French champions at the Allianz Arena to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Bayern Munich defeated Paris Saint Germain 3-0 (2-0) on aggregate in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 match at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night, March 8, 2023.
The Bavarians were coming into the contest with a first-leg advantage, as the Parisians hoped to overturn the deficit and progress to the next stage of the competition.
Bayern looked the better team in the first period creating the better chances but neither side could break the deadlock.
Jamal Musiala tried to works some magic in the box but saw his effort saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma in the 31st minute.
Four minutes later, the visitors suffered a setback as Marquinhos was forced off through injury with summer signing Nordi Mukiele coming on as his replacement.
Vitinha had a chance to open the scoring after a brief error from Yan Somemr in the box.
However, he saw his low effort cleared off the line by Matthijs de Ligt to preserve the German’s lead.
Both sides jostled for possession to see out the opening period but ultimately headed into the break with the scores deadlocked and the hosts still holding the advantage.
Second Half
The hosts started the second period brightly and thought they had finally opened the scoring eight minutes after the restart.
Eric Maxim Chuopo-Moting found the back of the net to send the Allianz Arena to wide jubilations. But their celebration was cut short as VAR ruled out his effort for offside due to an infringement in the build up.
The visitors were forced to play catch up soon afterwards with Bayern applying pressure constantly until they were finally rewarded.
Chuopo-Moting again would not be denied this time in the 61st minute after an assist from Leon Goretzka to give Bayern a deserved 1-0 lead.
PSG tried to fight back and almost pulled a goal back after Sergio Ramos rose highest from a Lionel Messi corner in the 65th minute.
However, the Spaniard saw his header brilliantly saved by Yan Sommer.
The visitors never really looked like they were going to overturn the deficit as the game progressed despite dominating possession in the second period.
Christophe Galtier’s men kept creating the chances in the in the latter stages of the game but just could not break down the Bavarian’s great defence.
But the visitors found themselves trailing again, after a quick fire counter attack was finished off by second half substitute Serge Gnabry to put his side 2-0 up.
The hosts could have grabbed a third after Sadio Mane fired home in the 93rd minute in added time, but the Senegalese's effort was ruled out for offfside.
And after five minutes of added time, Bayern came out deserved winners, knocking the French champions out of the Champions League for a second straight season in the round of 16 stages.
Bayern won PSG 2-0 on the night, and 3-0 on aggregate to send the Fech champions packing from Europe this season.

A tough one to call but Mathijs de Ligt was absolutely colossal for the Bavarians against PSG.
De Ligt defended really well on crucial occasions including his impressive off the line clearance to preserve Bayern's lead before the break.
With 5 clearances, 2 Interceptions, and 2 blocked shots, the 23-year-old Dutch centre back won all his aerial duels for Bayern Munich on the night and is deservedly our Man of The Match.
