Arsenal's Leandro Trossard has weaved his way into the history books
Arsenal’s sensational Belgian Leandro Trossard has entered the Premier League’s history books after his incredible first-half performance in the London derby against Fulham.
Trosard inspires Arsenal to win over Fulham
Trossard was operating on a different plane as he helped his teammates score three goals in 45 minutes with a virtuoso performance.
Trossard set up Gabriel Magalhaes from a corner kick to give Arsenal the lead, before assisting Gabriel Martinelli’s goal to put Arsenal 2-0 after 26 minutes.
He completed his hat-trick of assists in additional time of the first half, helping captain Martin Odegaard to his 10th Premier League goal of the season and Arsenal’s third against Fulham.
Trossard reaches Premier League milestone
In assisting Odegaard’s goal, Trossard wrote his name in the history books, becoming the first player in Premier League history to assist three goals in the first half of an away match.
The 28-year-old ex-Brighton man was so impressed by his own achievement that he even made a cheeky tweet about it.
In addition to the earlier stated record, Trossard also became the first Premier League player since another Arsenal icon, Santi Cazorla in the 2012/13 season, to both score a hattrick and have a hat-trick of assists in the same Premier League campaign.
Trossard’s hat-trick against Liverpool and his hat-trick of assists against Fulham put him in very special company, especially considering the affiliations of the last person to pull off this feat.
Arsenal will be hoping for more performances like this from Trossard after singing the Belgian from Brighton to try to push their quest for the Premier League title further.
