Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti speaks on UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg clash at home to Liverpool.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is not resting on his laurels ahead of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg clash at home to Liverpool.
Los Blancos welcome Liverpool to the Bernabeu on Wednesday with a 5-2 advantage in hand from the first leg.
And despite the fact that Jurgen Klopp's men have a mountain to climb, the Real Madrid boss is not taking anything for granted.
Ancelotti speaks on Real Madrid v Liverpool
The 63-year-old manager spoke about the upcoming game in the pre-match press conference that “the message is quite simple: not to assume.”
Ancelotti charged his team, “The players understand that I think it will be an open match as Liverpool come here trying to change the dynamic."
“We have to do both things, attacking and defending, properly. We will not just defend, we are thinking about the attack,” the Italian manager concluded.
Ancelotti can draw confidence from the fact no team in Champions League history has ever lost the home leg of a knock-out tie by three goals and recovered.
However, the Italian was famously in charge of AC Milan who suffered a remarkable 45-minute comeback by Liverpool to win the 2005 final, another reason he cannot afford to take this for granted.
