Iheanacho and Ndidi now without a coach as Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers part ways by mutual consent
Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have been rendered coachless as Leicester City part ways with Brendan Rodgers following an extended period of poor form that has left he Foxes in the relegation zone.
Leicester sit 19th in the Premier League, after six losses in their last 10 league games, and the club's management has reached its patience limit, choosing to wield the axe on the faltering manager.
Leicester City's loss against Crystal Palace in Gameweek 29 was the club's final straw, and they decided to end their relationship with Rodgers, which has persisted since 2019.
Leicester City enjoyed great start to life under Rodgers
Rodgers' first seasons at Leicester were characterised by overachieving, as Leicester twice came close to reaching the UEFA Champions League, narrowly missing out on the top four in the 2019/20 season by four points and the 2020/21 season by one point.
At the time, Rodgers was revered by the club for turning their fortunes around after the departure of Claude Puel, and he was touted to be that man to help Leicester break the dominance of the traditional Premier League top six after showing season-on-season improvements.
Leicester's decline under Rodgers
Unfortunately, Leicester were faced with an opposing outcome as diminishing returns saw them lose all the ground they gained under Rodgers to the point of struggling for a place in the Premier League
After dropping to a mid-table finish in the 2021/22 season, Leicester have found themselves struggling even more in the 2022/23 season, as they battle relegation for the first time in Rodgers' reign as manager.
There were calls for Rodgers to be fired at the start of the season when Leicester were bottom of the league, but the club stuck with him in faith after his previous good seasons and were rewarded for their faith with a mid-season rival that saw Leicester reach the middle of the table.
However, a further slump in form in the latter part of the season has left the club in real danger of relegation, as they sit 19th in the table, two points better than Southampton in last.
