Jurgen Klopp has asked his Liverpool player to do their talking on the pitch
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said his team need to do more than just talk ahead of the crucial Premier League match against Chelsea.
Klopp’s Liverpool are in a battle for their European future as they look to catch up with Newcastle, Tottenham, and Manchester United in the race for the top four.
Liverpool to battle Chelsea in mid-table clash
They face a Chelsea team still reeling from the departure of Graham Potter who was let go on Sunday after leading the Blues to 11th place in the Premier League table.
Liverpool will feel they have the upper hand against a struggling Chelsea team playing under the guidance of caretaker manager Bruno Saltor, but they will need to be wary as they have been atrocious on the road in the Premier League this season.
Klopp feels time for talking is over, asks players to act
Liverpool have lost eight games away from home, compared to just one game at Anfield, and would be 13th in the Premier League with only away matches considered.
Speaking after the Red’s most recent away loss, defender Virgil van Dijk said the Liverpool players had had a frank chat with themselves and vowed to improve, but Klopp believes more needs to be done to see a turnaround.
Speaking ahead of the Chelsea game, Klopp said, “It’s not about talking anymore, it’s about delivering, it’s about doing.
“That is the message. We spoke over the season about everything 100 percent. You cannot close your eyes and hope it will get better.”
Klopp will hope that his side heed his warning against a Chelsea side with a lot to prove who are also fighting to finish the season with some dignity after an atrocious season so far by the club’s standards.
The only other competition for Chelsea to save some pride in is the UEFA Champions League where the Blues face Real Madrid who also knocked Liverpool out in the previous round.
