Stars missing through injury as Liverpool take on Chelsea
Two of the Premier League’s fallen giants Liverpool and Chelsea face off on Tuesday looking to better their fortunes after awful seasons so far, but they will both have to navigate the fixture without several key players.
Liverpool’s missing stars against Chelsea
Liverpool recently welcomed back midfielder Arthur from a lengthy injury, and will also be buoyed by Darwin Nunez’ return to full fitness, but they continue to be without Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara who will miss out on a ninth Premier League game in a row.
Thiago has suffered from injuries this season and has only featured 14 times in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign for Liverpool.
Liverpool’s midfield was left even lighter by the injury to teenage sensation Stefan Bajcetic who has been ruled out for the season.
As mentioned by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, Colombian forward Luis Diaz is still some way off fitness and will be unavailable for the trip to Chelsea.

Liverpool’s hosts, Chelsea, also have a significant injury list that features long-term absentees Armando Broja and Cesar Azpilicueta.
They will be joined by Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, as well as defenders Wesley Fofana and Thiago Silva who have also been ruled out of the Liverpool fixture.
Another important absentee from the Chelsea squad will be English winger Raheem Sterling who is currently suffering from a hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, Klopp wants Liverpool to do their talking on the pitch
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said his team need to do more than just talk ahead of the crucial Premier League match against Chelsea.
Speaking after the Red’s most recent away loss, defender Virgil van Dijk said the Liverpool players had had a frank chat with themselves and vowed to improve, but Klopp believes more needs to be done to see a turnaround.
Speaking ahead of the Chelsea game, Klopp said, “It’s not about talking anymore, it’s about delivering, it’s about doing.

“That is the message. We spoke over the season about everything 100 percent. You cannot close your eyes and hope it will get better.”
