Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has spoken about his Napoli manager
Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has praised his club coach, Luciano Spalletti, hailing him as a genius amidst Napoli’s incredible season.
Spalletti bringing out the best in Osimhen
Osimhen is experiencing his best season in European football after scoring 25 goals in 29 games in all competitions in 2022/23.
The Nigerian forward has led Napoli to the brink of a first Scudetto since 1990 with his 21 goals in the league and has also helped I Partenopei to the first UEFA Champions League quarterfinal in their history with three goals in two games against Frankfurt in the round of 16.
The Super Eagles forward has understandably enjoyed a lot of praise for his outstanding personal season and how it has helped Napoli reach great heights, but he believes that the person who should get the plaudits is Napoli's manager Spalletti, who has been the brain behind their recent successes.
Napoli’s Osimhen is looking to get improve under Spalletti
Osimhen believes that the coach is the secret behind the stunning season Napoli is having, and has hailed him as the best manager he has played under.
He told FranceFootball, “Luciano Spalletti is a genius, trust me. What Spalletti has done here since his arrival at Napoli can’t be compared with what I experienced elsewhere — and also you haven't seen it all.”
Spalletti has been the coach of Napoli since 2021 and has overseen one of the best periods in Napoli’s history and is likely to continue on his journey to being a club legend by winning a Serie A title.
Meanwhile in other Napoli news
In other Napoli news, the club took a step close to their first Serie A title since 1990 after a hard-fought win over Lecce on Friday night to temporarily go 19 points clear at the top of the league.
Napoli were without Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for the second game in a row, but unlike their disastrous outing against Milan that saw them hammered 4-0, Napoli gave a much better account of themselves away to Lecce, winning 2-1 thanks to a Wladimiro Falcone howler in the 64th minute.
