Arsenal fans believe the title race is over after the Gunners slipped up in the title race in their defeat against the defending champions Manchester City.
Manchester City outclassed Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad on Wednesday night, April 26, 2023, as the Premier League title race intensifies.
Mikel Arteta's came into the contest with a huge point to prove as they faced the toughest test of their title credentials when they were hosted by the defending Premier League champions.
City wasted no time in asserting their dominance in the game as Erling Haaland found Kevin de Bruyne who finished clinically to put the hosts 1-0 just seven minutes into the match.
Arsenal looked second-best all night as they found clear-cut chances hard to come by.
City soon found cause to celebrate once more in the final minute of the opening period as John Stones shot home their second.
However, after seeing his effort initially chalked off for offside, VAR would overrule the decision as the hosts were awarded a crucial goal to give Guardiola's men a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break, leaving Arteta's men with all to do in the second half.
Second Half: Manchester City vs Arsenal
Manchester City came into the sceond period guns blazing and hungry to stretch their lead.
The hosts had been in control of the game for majority of the contest and soon found a third as Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne soon combined again, with the Belgian bagging a brace on the night in the 54th minute to pretty much put the game beyond the league leader's reach.
Arsenal were able to muster some chances and soon pulled one goal back in the closing stages, with Rob Holding shortening the deficit in the 84th minute to make the scores 3-1.
However, the hosts did not back down as a fine performance for Haaland was capped off with a goal in the 95th minute of stoppage time.
Haaland's goal also meant that the Norwegian has broken Mohamed Salah's record (32) to become the highest goalscorer in a 38 match Premier League season.
The Norwegian's strike was the final action as Man City crushed the Gunners at the Etihad to move just two points behind the current league leaders in the thrilling 2022/23 Premier League title race.
