West Ham make official bid for Terem Moffi
West Ham have shown how concrete their interest in Lorient forward Terem Moffi is by tabling an official bid totalling £25 million for the Nigerian.
Moffi has been in the news recently with rumours of a possible move to West Ham, Southampton, Aston Villa, and Nice dominating recent headlines, but so far Lorient have not received a bid as significant as The Hammers’ latest offer.
West Ham’s offer for Moffi is the closest to Lorient’s valuation
West Ham have offered a deal worth £20 million upfront and £5m in add-ons which will come very close to meeting Lorient’s valuation of the player which is believed to be around £26.5m.
Although it is rumoured that Moffi’s heart is set on staying in France with Nice who he has a pre-agreement, the French club’s bid is well below Lorient’s asking price and West Ham’s offer means that Nice has to improve their offer or risk losing Moffi.
Terem Moffi’s outstanding form
The Nigerian striker has been in the form of his life in Ligue 1 this season and is two goals shy of his best goal tally in France with more than half of the 2022/23 season left to play.
He scored his 12th Ligue 1 goal in 18 appearances in Lorient’s loss to Marseille and ranks behind only PSG’s Kylian Mbappe on the scorers' chart this season.
Given his form, it is no surprise that so many clubs are vying for Moffi’s signature and it is only a matter of time before he gets his move away from Lorient.
Given this latest development with West Ham’s bid, it is likely that we could be seeing Moffi proving his mettle in the Premier League soon.
