Muhoroni were reduced to 10 men in the 55th minute but still held on for a 1-1 draw against Kenya Police on Monday afternoon.

Kenya Police FC and Muhoroni Youth have shared the spoils after the second half of their FKFPL encounter match was played at the Muhoroni Sports Complex on Monday noon.

The game which initially started on Sunday had to be delayed in the 52nd minute owing to bad weather, but was completed, with both sides settling for a 1-1 draw.

The day before, Police had drawn first blood in the 22nd minute through Marvine Nabwire after a parry by keeper Michael Kagiri landed onto his path before expertly dispatching it home.

Their lead would be cut short just before the break when Raila Christopher restored parity for the hosts, leaving the first half even.

As the game progressed the weather took an unexpected turn. Dark clouds gathered overhead and rain started to fall heavily over the Muhoroni pitch.

Players, officials, and fans watched as the playing surface quickly turned into a waterlogged quagmire making it impossible for the beautiful game to continue.

Referee decisions are never easy, but in this instance, match officials, after consulting with both team captains, made the difficult call to halt the game.

On return starting in the 53rd minute of the match which kicked off at 12 PM, none of the sides really managed to get the better of each other, despite the fact Youth were reduced to 10 men when Erick Juma was dismissed for a second bookable offense.

In the end, both sides had to share the spoils, and it now means that Police are seventh on 21 points, while Muhotoni Youth are rock-bottom.

“The game was good. Sunday’s half was also good except for the fact there was rain which ruined the game when we were tied 1-1,” Muhoroni coach Charles Odera said after the match.

“The time was short, with only 38 minutes played but both teams wanted to get the win. It was a tough game and the intensity was high. I thank the boys for a spirited fight despite going down to ten men and we still created more chances than Police.

“It is a positive result. I thank the players for their good display to ensure we did not loose after a sticky spell of just losing games.
