The Mailmen scored in either half to emerge victorious in a match held at Ruaraka Grounds.

Mathare United suffered another Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) defeat after Posta Rangers claimed a 2-0 victory on Saturday.

Calvin Odongo and Eliud Lokuwam were Rangers’ scorers in a match in which the Slum Boys had their own fair share of chances but ended up wasting all of them.

Meanwhile, Mathare went down in the eighth minute when Odongo struck for Rangers.

Although the 2008 Premier League champions were the better side for most of the first half, they could not turn their dominance into goals.

One clear chance for the Slum Boys came when John Kuol – after rising to meet a superbly delivered corner - hit the woodwork just before the half-time break.

Mathare were handed a numerical advantage in the 45th minute when Rangers were reduced to 10 men. Timothy Otieno was sent off for two bookings accumulated because of dissent and a dangerous foul.

Mathare handed Lennox Kimani his debut when he was introduced in the 46th minute for Patrick Ikholi. This was the first change made just after the half-hour break.

The away side extended their lead in the 64th minute when Lokuwam scored. Rangers were more composed while handling Mathare and pensively waited for their chances, which they took with precision.

Three minutes after conceding the second, a second change was made by the Slum Boys; experienced Elijah Mwanzia came on for Fidel Otieno.

After making the changes and creating rare chances in the second half, Mathare could not stop the Mailmen from winning and keeping a clean sheet in Matchday 26 action.

The defeat leaves Mathare just in the relegation zone, and they will need to pick up points in order to avoid suffering the drop. They are 16th with 22 points from 26 games.

On the other hand, Rangers registered their eleventh win of the season, and the points earned against Mathare take their tally to 38.
