Genoa proved to be the party spoilers as AC Milan's special anniversary ended in a goalless affair featuring Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Genoa played the role of party spoilers as AC Milan's special anniversary match ended in a disappointing goalless draw, despite a spirited performance from Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze

The match, held late on Sunday night at San Siro, marked the celebration of AC Milan’s 125th anniversary, during which the team donned a unique retro kit inspired by their heritage from 1899.

Chukwueze, who was given a rare starting berth, made it count with a lively display of his skills throughout the match.

He played for 75 minutes, creating three chances and completing an impressive 95% of his passes.

His efforts were particularly notable as he partnered with fellow Nigerian Tammy Abraham on the pitch, contributing to a lively display.

However, despite these contributions, Milan could not find the back of the net against a resolute Genoa side.

The match was anticipated to be a celebratory occasion for AC Milan fans, who had keenly awaited the debut of the specially designed anniversary kit.

This retro jersey was crafted based on fan input and features elements that pay homage to the club’s storied past, including broad red and black stripes reminiscent of designs from the 1950s.

Unfortunately for Milan, the celebration did not extend to their performance on the field.

Chukwueze's performance, while commendable in terms of statistics—three key passes and high pass accuracy—was overshadowed by the team's inability to convert opportunities into goals.

These dropped points mean that Milan sit eight on the table after just six wins out of 15 matches this season on 23 points while Genoa are five spots below them.
