28-year-old Nigerian striker swaps European nightmare for Arab money with UAE move

The Nigeria international struggled for game time in Italy before ending his nightmare with a move to the UAE giants.

United Arab Emirates giants Al Wasl FC have officially announced the signing of Nigerian striker Isaac Success, 28, as a foreign player to bolster the team’s lineup for the 2024-2025 sports season.

Pulse Sports reports that the former Udinese forward will wear the shirt number 90 as he joins the ranks of the Emperor.

Success brings a wealth of experience from European football, having played for notable clubs such as Udinese in Italy, Granada FC and Málaga FC in Spain, and Watford in England.

His impressive career includes being the top goal scorer at the Under-17 Africa Cup and winning the Under-17 World Cup in 2013 with Nigeria.

In a statement reflecting his excitement about joining Al Wasl, Success who tied the knot recently said, “I am looking forward to meeting you [the fans], and I hope we can achieve great things together.”

His arrival is expected to enhance Al Wasl's attacking options as they aim for success in domestic and regional competitions.

Success's career has seen him make significant contributions across various leagues, with a total of six goals and 17 assists in 83 appearances for Udinese.

His versatility allows him to play effectively as a center-forward or on the wings, making him a valuable addition to Al Wasl's squad.

The club’s management expressed confidence in Success's ability to make an immediate impact, stating that his experience and skill set align well with their ambitions for the upcoming season.

Success’s decision to leave Europe comes after a struggle to establish himself at Udinese where he only managed 30 starts in two season, nine of which were last season.

The Nigeria will be hoping for better experience in the UAE where he is expected to will bring his experience to Al Wasl on the pitch.
