Moses Simon returns as Nantes’ key man, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Frank Onyeka fight to secure vital points for Lazio and Augsburg, respectively. From Serie A to the Bundesliga, these Super Eagles players are ready to make headlines this weekend.

Ademola Lookman — Udinese vs Atalanta

After a super successful 2024, Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman will play his first match in Serie A for 2025, hoping to continue from where he left off.

Lookman finished last year as the Serie A player with the second-most goal contributions after scoring 22 goals and providing 13 assists in only 43 games and was crowned the best player in Africa for his effort.

The Super Eagles star kicks off the second half of the Serie A campaign against Udinese, who will be without their own Nigerian star Maduka Okoye, who is still out injured.

Sadiq Umar — Sevilla vs Valencia

After only 32 minutes on his debut, Umar has already been likened to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Manchester City hitman Erling Haland by Valencia fans, thanks to his athleticism and eye for a good shot.

Umar Sadiq came on for Valencia just before the hour mark in the Copa del Rey.

Although the Super Eagles striker was unable to score on his first appearance, Valencia faithful are hopeful that he can get off the mark when they take on Sevilla.

Sevilla will be eager to welcome back Super Eagles star Chidera Ejuke, who has been on the sidelines through injury but recently returned to team training.

Moses Simon — Nantes vs AS Monaco

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon was named Nantes’ Player of the Month for December 2024, and with the way he has been playing, he may well have been named the Player of the Season.

With five assists and four goals, Simon has been Nantes’ best player this campaign and one of the best in Ligue 1 as a whole.

The Nigerian star recently had a screw removed from his leg after surgery due to a recent injury and will be back firing for the Canaries.

When they take on title hopefuls Monaco, Nantes will look to Simon for inspiration as they look to avoid relegation from Ligue 1.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru — Lazio vs Como

Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has been in and out of the Lazio team in Serie A this season, and after being hooked at half time in the Biancoceleste’s last match, he has a point to prove.

Dele-Bashiru has found Serie A starts hard to come by this season and could make his third consecutive appearance from the start against Como.

With Lazio facing relegation-threatened Como at home, Dele-Bashiru has the perfect platform to showcase his quality and cement a place in the starting line-up.

Frank Onyeka — Augsburg vs Stuttgart

Since joining Augsburg on loan from Brentford, Onyeka has been one of the better performers for the Bundesliga side, boosting their chances of surviving the drop.

Onyeka has started 12 out of a possible 14 games for Augsburg and has shown his ability, despite the Fugger-towners struggling to stay afloat in the Bundesliga.

This weekend, Augsburg take on Stuttgart in a battle to stay afloat and will be keen for Onyeka to show his quality once again in the league.
