The Blues remain in hot pursuit of Victor Osimhen, but after already signing 11 players this window, will need to sell some players to afford the Nigerian while remaining in PSR clear waters
Chelsea's finances have come under scrutiny after spending more than £1 billion on new players, and the club is now reportedly looking to generate £200 million to avoid potential profit and sustainability rules charges while also pursuing a deal for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
The Blues will now reportedly look to move on at least nine players in their squad to keep abreast of Premier League expectations and avoid the severe consequences of breaching PSR regulations.
9 players Chelsea can sell this summer
Conor Gallagher
Chelsea already tried to sell Conor Gallagher this summer, but a £35 million move to Atletico Madrid recently fell through, and the Blues will now have to find a new suitor for the 24-year-old midfielder elsewhere.
As an academy graduate, Chelsea selling Gallagher would represent a significant profit since he did not cost The Blues a transfer fee, meaning any money they get for the England international would be “pure profit.”
Romelu Lukaku
Chelsea’s pursuit of Osimhen from Napoli has opened an avenue for the Blues to sell Romelu Lukaku in the opposite direction.
The Belgian striker’s problematic three years at Chelsea may soon come to an end, with Lukaku desperate for a return to Serie A, where he has spent the last two seasons on loan with Roma and Inter.
While Lukaku is under contract until 2026, he can barely be considered a Chelsea player and could potentially bring in up to £39 million if all goes as planned between Chelsea and Napoli.
Trevoh Chalobah
Having been with Chelsea since 2007, Trevoh Chalobah now finds himself surplus to requirements and has been told to leave by the last two managers.
Chalobah is another academy graduate whose sale would represent pure profit and has been forced to train alone with the club trying to force him to move.
With interest from Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, Chelsea are keen on selling the 25-year-old defender and could generate up to £25 million from his sale.
Kepa Arrizabalaga
Still the most expensive goalkeeper of all time, following his £72 million move from Athletic Club, Kepa Arrizabalaga is another player that Chelsea are desperate to sell this summer.
After helping Real Madrid win the LaLiga and Champions League double while on loan in the 2023/24 season, Chelsea may look to cash in on Kepa’s permanent exit, potentially earning £10 million from his sale and taking his massive salary off their wage bill.
Carney Chukwuemeka
Carney Chukwuemeka was signed from Aston Villa as one of the first purchases of the new Chelsea regime for a surprising £20 million but has yet to secure a regular spot in Chelsea's first team more than two years later.
Crystal Palace have also shown interest in the young midfielder, who could be sold to the Eagles if new manager Enzo Maresca also deems him surplus to requirements.
Ben Chilwell
English full-back Ben Chilwell's value has tanked since his £50 million transfer from Leicester City in 2020 thanks to injuries and inconsistent performances in the last few years.
Despite currently being the club’s vice captain, Chilwell is a potential candidate for a £20 million sale this summer, as he no longer commands a first-team place after being told by manager Maresca that it would be better for him to leave the club.
Noni Madueke
Noni Madueke has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer and could be on his way out of Chelsea more than one year after his move to Stamford Bridge from PSV, making him another potential departure.
The England youth international has become more important to Chelsea during his last year at the club, making 23 appearances in the Premier League last season, but a substantial bid for his services could tempt the Blues into selling since they have several alternatives to Madueke on the right wing. .
David Datro Fofana
Centre-forward David Datro Fofana was signed from Molde for £8 million and spent last season on loan at Union Berlin before being recalled and re-loaned out to Burnley.
Despite not being given the chance to impress at Chelsea, the Ivory Coast international is up for sale this summer to help the Blues raise money.
The 21-year-old striker has only played four matches in all competitions for Chelsea in two years and is clearly not cutting it at Stamford Bridge, so he is a prime candidate for a fire sale.
Armando Broja
Albanian striker Armando Broja has been on the fringes of the first team, but his time at Chelsea could be up with a permanent move this summer firmly on the cards.
Bundesliga side Stuttgart are hoping to add Broja to the capture of Denis Undav, while Premier League side Wolves are also reportedly interested in the 22-year-old forward who might be allowed to leave Chelsea this summer for a reasonable amount.
