The Ukrainian international has released a detailed statement in his defense after reports of a failed drug test emerged.

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has expressed shock after reportedly testing positive for a banned substance.

The Blues confirmed on Tuesday that they were informed by the Football Association (FA) of an "adverse finding" in a routine urine test conducted on the Ukraine international.

Chelsea Football Club has also released a statement confirming the FA's notification and pledging their full cooperation with the investigation.

The club stated they would work diligently to determine the cause of the failed test.

The positive result has led to a provisional suspension by the FA, immediately barring Mudryk from participating in any football activities.

The young attacker has vehemently denied knowingly using any prohibited substances.

In a statement posted on his Instagram account, Mudryk said, "This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.

"I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon," he concluded.

Mykhailo Mudryk's last appearance for Chelsea was on November 28th. He has since been absent from the squad for five consecutive matches across all competitions.

Although he was named in the matchday squad for Chelsea's victory against Aston Villa on December 1st, he remained an unused substitute.
