Ibom Angels secured their return to the NWFL Premiership while Honey Badgers were promoted for the first time.

Benue State-based Honey Badgers created history on Sunday, September 8th by securing their maiden promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

They achieved this feat with a 1-0 victory over Pelican Stars in the NWFL Championship playoff match held at UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

A solitary goal from Hellen Daniel in the second half proved to be the difference for the Honey Badgers, who displayed resilience and composure throughout the match.

Much credit to Pelican Stars who displayed a spirited effort, but, the Badgers' defence held firm to secure a historic win.

"This is a dream come true for us. We've worked tirelessly to reach this point, and it's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players and staff," Honey Badgers' coach, Emmanuel Agbo said.

Ibom Angels Return to the Premiership

Ibom Angels also secured their return to the NWFL Premiership, defeating Osun Babes 2-0 in their playoff match. Goals from Abasiofon Uwah and Ijeoma Onweagba sealed the victory for the Uyo-based side.

"We're delighted to be back in the Premiership. It's been a tough journey, but we've persevered and achieved our goal," Ibom Angels' captain, Uwah said.

Chosen Generation Angels and Heroes Queens Maintain Status

Both Chosen Generation Angels and Heroes Queens retained their places in the NWFL Championship after winning their respective relegation playoff matches.

Chosen Generation Angels narrowly edged Kaduna Queens 1-0, while Heroes Queens defeated DreamStar FC Ladies by the same scoreline.

Kaduna Queens and DreamStar FC Ladies were relegated to the third tier as a result of their defeats.
