With the continued rise to his best form, the fleet-footed attacker will hope to get back into the national team fold in the near future.

Winger Abdu Lumala has continued revitalising his Vipers SC career following an unpleasant debut campaign initially marred by injuries and limited playing opportunities.

While he played just five times in the entirety of the 2022/2023 Uganda Premier League season, he has featured in each of the games this campaign.

"Of course, I'm very, very pleased to be back playing in the starting eleven," the 'electric-man' told the club media in an interview.

Lumala has started seven of the ten, chipping in with one goal and two assists so far, operating on the left and right wings, as well as the right wing-back a couple of times.

"It's every player's wish to play week in and week out. The backroom staff, coaches, my teammates and the hard work I put in have made this possible."

"They know how good I am, and how good I can be," the versatile winger added.

Lumala's previous struggles stretched back to his time in Egypt with giants Pyramids FC from 2019/20 to 2022, a spell that was wrecked by injury setbacks.

"It's been quite a difficult journey from last season to this one. I've really tried to improve, and I'm working even harder."

"I don't think I've given all I can. I can be better. I've wanted to show people that had given up on me, and it's only I that had to push myself to where I am today," he added.

With the continued rise to his best form, the fleet-footed attacker will hope to get back into the national team fold in the near future.

"I have to give my best every day on and off the pitch; I have to keep going, score more goals and assists and push my teammates because we know how big we are and the team we play for," Lumala added.

His last competitive involvement with the Uganda Cranes is traced back to August 2021, as they lost 2-1 to Ethiopia in an international friendly.

Lumala made his loudest noise with the Cranes during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he terrorised defences with his pace and skill-set as they reached the Round of 16.
