Seven-time UEFA Champions League winners AC Milan are desperate to have star Rafael Leao fit, after he missed first-team training on Monday and Tuesday ahead of the highly anticipated derby with nemesis Inter Milan.
The winger, who has been Milan’s best player for two seasons now, suffered an injury to his thigh after just 11 minutes of Saturday’s Serie A game against Lazio.
According to Sky Sports, Leao trained alone on Tuesday, with a physio during Milan’s open session, away from the rest of the squad.
“Field work was scheduled for today,” AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli told Sky of his Portuguese winger.
“Tomorrow morning he will try to push and if he’s okay he will be present, otherwise he won’t,” Pioli said.
“He could start, he could be able to play, and he may not even be on the bench.”
“It will depend on the type of work he can do, because with his quality and characteristics he must be 100 per cent. Let's see, it's still open,” he added.
AC Milan and Inter Milan will be renewing their rivalry, this time at a bigger stage – the Champions League Semifinals.
