Ademola Lookman is primed for his next big move and it could be as a replacement for Mohamed Salah at Liverpool
Lookman was a menace to Real’s defenders who struggled to contain him, with the Nigerian forward scoring a stunning goal in the 65th minute, which briefly reignited hopes for Atalanta after they had fallen behind 3-1.
This goal was his third goal in the Champions League this season. But despite his efforts, Atalanta could not find an equaliser, suffering their first defeat in the competition this season and ending a remarkable unbeaten streak across competitions.
After the match, Lookman expressed pride in his team’s performance before quickly turning his attention to Atalanta's upcoming Serie A match against Cagliari, posting on social media, “Heads up, onto Saturday now.”
Atalanta currently sit at the top of the Serie A table with 34 points from 15 matches, having won 11, drawn one, and lost three.
Lookman has been a key player in their success this season and rise to the top of the Italian league, contributing eight goals and four assists in just 12 league appearances.
Up next, as they prepare to face Cagliari, who are 15th in the league, Lookman will be keen to add to his tally and help secure another victory for Atalanta this Saturday.
The last time Atalanta visited Unipol Domus, venue of the match, it ended in a 2-1 defeat, with Lookman assisting Atalanta’s consolation goal. Gian Piero Gasperini will be banking on his African pride to ensure that the result this time is favourable.
