The company will manufacture specific shoes for local heavyweights.

AFC Leopards have confirmed they are working on a partnership with multinational footwear, apparel, and fashion accessories manufacturer, Bata.

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side visited the company’s office in Limuru on Friday.

"We visited Kenya's biggest shoe manufacturer, Bata, at their Limuru factory earlier today as we work towards a partnership that will officially be launched in June," AFC Leopards confirmed.

"Northstar shoes customized specifically for AFC Leopards were launched. They have a wide variety of footwear in their stores, visit them to get yourself one or many for your family."

Financially, the new deal is a big boost for Ingwe, who have faced monetary challenges before.

They are also in a sponsorship deal with betting company Betika, and the new deal will help them grow an even stronger financial muscle.

With an improved financial status, the players are set to be motivated as their salaries and allowances will be paid promptly. Unlike in the previous season, the club is almost assured of not facing go-slows by the players.

The local heavyweights have had to deal with cases at FIFA when former players dragged them to the Zurich-based football governing body for failure to settle their dues.

Consequently, they were banned from signing players, and this had a generally negative impact on their outcome. Sometimes Ingwe were forced to fall back on their youth team players to feature for the senior side.

With the new deal and perhaps a healthy bank account, the Leopards will also attract top talents in the country and even from outside the borders.
