AFC Leopards have threatened to take legal action over claims that club chairman Dan Shikanda assaulted a fan and also threatened a journalist after last week’s game against Posta Rangers
AFC Leopards have dismissed allegations made against chairman Dan Shikanda following reports that he assaulted a fan club and threatened a journalist.
According to a report published by Nation, Shikanda allegedly assaulted a fan identified as Steve Mungo and also threatened Nation Media Group reporter John Ashihundu after Leopards’ FKF Premier League match against Posta Rangers last weekend.
Shikanda was allegedly not happy at the journalist for writing what he portrayed ‘negative stories’ against the club. However, Leopards have come out to dismiss the reports, calling them malicious and aimed at causing mistrust in the club management.

“Our attention has been drawn to a recent media report dated and published on 16th November, 2023 and circulated international and national alleging that our esteemed chairman, Dr Dan Shikanda assaulted a fan and further threatened a journalist following the club’s draw against Posta Rangers on Saturday 11th November 2023,” Leopards said via s statement on Friday.
“The club wishes to categorically state that the said allegations remain to be false and baseless and we call upon members of the public familiar with the occurrence of the day to come forward and aid the club as we undertake an internal investigation over the matter with the aim of taking legal action against the perpetrators and propagators of these malicious allegations.
“We believe that the allegations made are libelous both against the chairman and the club and the timing of the same is shrouded in malice with the intent to cause mistrust of the management and leadership of the club in order to plunge the club into chaos and only for the purpose of a few distractors to score cheap political points.”
Leopards drew 1-1 with Posta Rangers, having misses a number of chances to secure their second win of the season with a section of fans directing their anger at match officials over what they termed ‘poor officiating.’
Shikanda has been under the spotlight in the wake of Leopards’ poor start to the season which has seen the club remain in the bottom places on the table after managing one win, six draws and four losses.
