FKFPL AFC Leopards keen to impress against high-flying City Stars

Festus Chuma 10:01 - 21.01.2024

AFC Leopards aim to continue their resurgence against Nairobi City Stars in a crucial FKF Premier League encounter at Bukhungu Stadium.

Having showcased a notable upturn in form, AFC Leopards are set to confront Nairobi City Stars in a much-anticipated clash at Bukhungu Stadium.

The rejuvenation under the stewardship of Tomas Trucha has ignited a spark of optimism among the Ingwe faithful.

This resurgence is hot on the heels of their slender victories against Muhoroni Youth FC and Ulinzi Stars, each by a solitary goal, marking a significant momentum shift for the team.

As the preparations intensify for the Sunday showdown, the spirit in the Leopards' camp is unmistakably buoyant.

Clifton Miheso, the influential captain of AFC Leopards, reached out to the fans with a heartfelt message, emphasizing the importance of their unwavering support.

"Ingwe family, we want to thank you for your support in the last few games as you have been coming in large numbers, and we appreciate it. We welcome you to our match against City Stars. It is going to be entertaining," he affirmed.

The matchup, slated for a 3:00 pm kickoff, promises to be an accessible spectacle for fans, with terrace tickets priced at a modest Sh100 and VIP tickets at Sh200.

In a bid to streamline the ticket acquisition process, AFC Leopards have leveraged their e-ticketing platform, providing a hassle-free online purchasing experience for the supporters.

This encounter is not just another game in the calendar but a revival of a storied rivalry that dates back years.

The upcoming fixture marks the 26th top-flight face-off between these adversaries since 2005, with Leopards holding a narrow edge in the historical head-to-head record.

The stakes are heightened by City Stars' recent form – the Simba wa Nairobi troop into the game on the back of an impressive seven-match winning streak, juxtaposed against the host's consecutive triumphs.

The tacticians on both benches, Nicholas Muyoti of City Stars and Tomas Trucha of Leopards, are set for only their second tactical tussle.

Their first encounter, a gripping affair, saw City Stars edge it with a 3-2 scoreline.

This rematch presents Trucha with an opportunity for tactical redemption and a chance to further solidify his influence on the team.

While Leopards find themselves in the 13th spot with 21 points, their adversaries are soaring high, positioned second with 33 points from 18 outings.
