AFC Leopards have made public all the awards categories that will be contested during the club’s end of season gala on August 21.

AFC Leopards will have five categories during the club’s first ever end of season awards gala.

After revealing that the Player of the Season will be contested by winger Cliffton Miheso, defenders Kayci Odhiambo and Vincent Mahiga as well as midfielder Victor Omune at the August 21 gala, four more categories have been revealed.

The other major category is the Players’ Player of the Season who will be chosen by players and the technical bench, with the player with the most votes taking it while in case of a tie, the technical bench will break it.

The other categories are Fans’ Player of the Season, Fan of the Year and Branch of the Year, all three decided by supporters via an online poll.

It is the player of the season where there will be more focus as the four nominees all contributed significantly to Ingwe’s fifth place finish in the league.

Miheso was Leopards’ most creative player last season as he topped the club’s assist chats besides scoring two league goals.

Odhiambo and Mahiga also played a part in making Leopards one of the hardest teams to break. While they did not score many goals, Ingwe had the second-best defence in the league after conceding 23 goals, just three more than champions Gor Mahia.

Meanwhile, Omune appears favourite to bag the award as he was the top scorer at Ingwe with eight goals in all competitions.

In what was a difficult season that saw the club struggle to score, Omune came to Ingwe’s rescue with key goals that eventually enabled them to turn around especially at the start of the year.
