The AFC Leopards leadership is hoping for less chaotic Annual General Meeting after setting the date for the highly-awaited gathering following divisions that marred the 2023 event.

AFC Leopards are hoping for a less chaotic Annual General Meeting (AGM) this year following an ill-tempered gathering that aborted in 2023.

Leopards have issued a notice of an AGM to its members with the highly-awaited meeting set to be held on June 30 at the Kasarani Auditorium and there is great hope that the agenda of the day will be discussed without disruption.

This follows chaos witnessed at last year’s meeting that was disrupted by a section of members who had promised to stage a ‘coup’ on the National Executive which had gone into the meeting divided.

“We have been working as a team from the NEC to subordinate staff all the way to the members so we are aligned right now,” Leopards secretary general Gilbert Andugu told Pulse Sports.

Part of what was on the agenda at last year’s AGM was some amendments to the constitution which did not take place due to the chaos but Andugu is hopeful that it will happen this time round.

“We have not done the amendments but we are coming up with a committee of experts to work on it. Constitution is not something we can change in one day,” he added.

Other items on the agenda are reception and confirmation of the chairman’s report, adoption of the financial statements for 2023 and the auditor’s report.

Some of the alterations that members are looking at is changing the club’s model into corporate with the branches keen to have membership categories that will allow them to have clusters such as platinum, gold, silver and bronze to be able to raise more revenue.

“We only have one membership category from top to down right now where we charge Ksh1,200 for new ones and Ksh1,000 for renewals,” Leopards executive branch secretary general Hosea Kisienya in relation to why they are calling for the changes.

The Leopards executive led by chairman Dan Shikanda will also face questions over the team’s performances as they are set to complete a seventh straight season without a trophy even though they have been improvements this year.
