AFC Leopards have released a list of players who will contest for the prestigious Player of the Season Award at the club’s first ever end-of-season gala this month.

AFC Leopards have revealed the nominees for the club’s Player of the Season set to be feted at the club’s first ever end-of-season awards gala.

Leopards will fete its top performers for the 2023-24 season on August 21 and the biggest award of the day will go to the Player of the Season.

The nominees for the prestigious gong are winger Cliffton Miheso, defenders Kayci Odhiambo and Vincent Mahiga as well as midfielder Victor Omune.

Miheso was one of the bright spots for Ingwe last season as he was their main creative force, chipping in with a number of assists, besides his two league goals after returning to the club following a stint at Kenya Police.

Odhiambo and Mahiga also played a part in making Leopards one of the hardest teams to break. While they did not score many goals, Ingwe had the second best defence in the league after conceding 23 goals, just three more than champions Gor Mahia.

Meanwhile, Omune appears favourite to bag the award as he was the top scorer at Ingwe with eight goals in all competitions.

In what as a difficult season that saw the club struggle to score, Omune came to Ingwe’s rescue with key goals that eventually enabled them to turn around their season to finish fifth.

There will also be nominees for other categories such as midfielder, defender and forward of the season with winners of the various categories selected by a panel after reviewing last season's statistics.
