AFC Leopards midfielder Victor Omune has explained what he feels still needs to change for Ingwe to be considered title contenders despite winning three of their four matches.
AFC Leopards midfielder Victor Omune still hopes for more improvements from the team as they push for the FKF Premier League title.
Omune was among the Ingwe squad that secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Nairobi City Stars on Sunday, their third victory in four games, that has taken them to second spot on the log.
It is a confidence booster for Leopards, who struggled at the start of last season, but Omune is not overly excited by their display and feels they have to put in more if they want to be among the title challengers.
“We have not played as well as we would have wished, we slowed a bit and allowed them into the game and that is how the game kind of changed,” Omune said after the match.
“However, you will not always win while playing well, sometimes you have to win ugly but what matters are the three points although we have a lot of work to do if we want to win the title. Still have a long way to go and a lot of things to work on.
“To the players, we need to work more, it has not been easy but we can do even better. We need to play well and win, we haven’t played well but won but next time we need to win while playing well.”

AFC Leopards maintain great form as they silence Nairobi City Stars for third win of the season
AFC Leopards piled more misery on Nairobi City Stars when they secured a third win in four games in the FKF Premier League on Sunday.
Omune was, however, thrilled by the support Leopards are getting from their fans, urging them to keep coming but stay on their best behaviour.
“Fans should keep coming, we want them to be more but they should not be violent. This season, if they are not violent, we will not let them down. We will keep pushing and they should do the same,” added the club’s Player of the Year last season.
In Sunday’s match, Victor Otieno broke the deadlock early before City Stars levelled in the 30th minute through Elvin Noor but Ingwe walked away with all three points thanks to an own goal.
